Item Description

Pyrite is very uncommon at Tsumeb, because of the scarcity of iron in the deposit. Rich specimens, such as this, with iridescent, microcrystalline pyrite complimented by lustrous, dolomite rhombs and a scattering of green, copper sulfides are indeed a rarity. This showy and excellent mounded, sculptural specimen displays well from both sides. Not necessarily a Tsumeb stunner, but certainly a Tsumeb combination rarity. Sought-after material from the Rob Smith Collection.
