Item Description

Japan-law twin quartz crystals are rare indeed, from the famous Huayllapon Mine at Pasto Bueno. An impressive and beautiful, 5.3 cm wide, gemmy, flattened, "butterfly" is jauntily set in the middle of a rich cluster of variably-sized quartz crystals. The right "wing" has a contact with only a modest bit of bruising and scattered broken quartz crystals are noted. Both are minimal detractions and this remains a rare and aesthetic older specimen from this locality from the Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection. Purchased in 1978 from the Tapper Collection in Zurich for 300 Swiss francs.
