Item Description

Awaruite is a rare Ni-Fe alloy named for the Type Locality near Awarua Bay, New Zealand. Josephinite is a synonym for Awaruite, and is named after the Oregon county, where it was found. This sculptural, rounded, lustrous, brown nugget occurs as alluvial riverworn detritus in several streams that originate and flow across the Josephine Peridotite. 13 grams mass. Ex Kay Robertson Collection with no collection number. Her label was misplaced in the move. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Rare and seldom on the market material.
