Item Description

The piece comes from an old East Coast collection with an historic label from the legendary mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address it dates to 1946-1957, and it's simply labeled as coming from "Switzerland". This is a wonderful Alpine specimen from the country where the first material was described and named in 1780. The Adula Mountains or Adula Massif was the first discovery of this variety of K-Feldspar. A classic Swiss Alpine Adularia specimen consisting of sharp, twinned crystals measuring up to 3.2 cm intergrown and free of matrix. This is a beautiful specimen for this historic and well known material. Very minor damage and beautiful all around.
