Item Description

Kampfite is an extremely rare barium carbonate silicate that was named after Anthony Kampf, the curator of the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History. The species is only found in two places in the world, both in the Big Creek-Rush Creek District of Fresno County, California. This particular piece is from the original find of the material at the type locality! The arrow on the specimen points to the section of light blue-grey Kampfite sitting in Sanbornite matrix. If you collect rarities or minerals from the type locality, you can't afford to miss out on this specimen that dates back 15+ years, as they are virtually impossible to find on the market. From the collection of Paolo Matioli.
