Item Description

An extremely rare sample of the vanadium oxide Villamaninite from the Type Locality in Finland! This species was first discovered in a schist belt called, Karelian, hence the name. It's actually a member of the Hematite Group, and is only found in about 10 places in the world. According to the label, this piece hosts Karelianite with Hematite, but I'm having a hard time distinguishing between the two. From the collection of Paolo Matioli with an accompanying label from Excalibur Minerals.
