Part of the famous Katanga Copper Crescent, the Musonoi Mine has produced an array of incredible minerals, both uranium-containing and otherwise. This small cab is colorful combination of carnation-pink Cobaltoan Calcite (or possibly Cobaltoan Dolomite) coated with, and altering to, greyish olive-green Kolwezite. Musonoi is the TYPE LOCALITY for Kolwezite, a very rare anhydrous Cu-Co carbonate of moss-green color. For the blanket of soft rhombohedral crystals atop the shocking pink cobalt-rich calcite, the Kolwezite has completely replaced a generation of original Calcite rhombohedra with sharp pseudomorphs, and in one instance you can see that they are hollow! Hihgly unusual association! This is a fine, and rare, combination specimen of two sought-after species together, Kolwezite and the hot pink cobaltian calcite.
