Item Description

Kunzite is well-known among collectors and dealers, but there are only about three places in the world where good crystals are found: Brazil, San Diego County and Afghanistan. Most of the crystals you'll see on the market these days come from Afghanistan, and they are truly impressive for their size, quality, color, gemminess and crystal form. This piece is a gorgeous doubly-terminated "floater" group with a very pale silvery-lilac color when viewed along the "a" axis, but it has a stronger purplish color when viewed down the "c" axis, like nearly all Spodumene crystals. The specimen is complete all the way around, with no major damage, only a tiny bit of roughness along one edge. It's quite gemmy in person, and honestly looks better than the photos might indicate. For reference, the piece is not twinned, but is actually two individual crystals which have grown together along the "a" face and they actually merge together along the top to partially share the modifying pyramdial face along the termination. The specimen was priced at $1,200 in the inventory. Specimen weight is 95.75 grams.
