Item Description
Kyanite specimens are rare from Russia. This striking CABINET specimen features large, lustrous, intensely blue, kyanite blades to 8.5 cm richly scattered, jackstraw-fashion on a combination matrix of sparkly microcrystals of the uncommon mica group species paragonite and bright green schist. The kyanite ranges from quite gemmy to opaque. Very seldom seen material from the Robert Whitmore Collection, who purchased this piece in the early 1990s from the Fersman Museum, when they first came to the U.S.
