Labradorite

Labradorite can be a milky white stone or a deep bluish-black stone, but the most valuable variety of this Feldspar is those with a rainbow sheen. This silvery or bluish iridescence is caused by the intergrowth of two different types of Feldspar with different refractive indexes. This Labradorite is from Madagascar, and is a beautiful, large "Freeform Cabochon" cut stone, and shows the traditional "rainbow sheen" for which this material is best known. This gem would make a great addition to any collection, especially since it has bright color and is over an inch across!
