A RARE, large and sharp demantoid andradite garnet from the obscure Iran locality. This sharp dodecahedron has high luster from polished faces. Testing of the intense chrome-green color showed that the color is caused by the presence of iron and chromium. You rarely many demantoids this size along with the rich color. Note it HAS been POLISHED to improve the color and surface, by a native I am sure. You can see the intense color without need of the usual strong backlighting. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Herb valued this fine large rarity at $800, more than six years ago. It is worth more today.
