Item Description

Isolated scintillating sprays of gemmy, emerald-green atacamite lathes are aesthetically scattered on the colorful and sculptural large combination plate from this well-known small copper mine in the Type Locality area. The sprays reach 1.6 cm. Starkly contrasting tiny balls of white Halloysite, a Kaolinite Subgroup clay, are festooned on the plate and are complemented by tiny green radial sprays of Libethenite needles. Scattered patches of variable green chrysocolla add more color to this showy and colorful large combination. Atacamite is a Cu-Oxyhalide and Libethenite is a Cu-Phosphate. The locality has produced exceptional examples of both species and this is a fine large example.
