Item Description

This underground niobium producing mine is well-known for large, thick prismatic barite crystals. This impressive, large, thick and hefty prism has striking double offset chisel terminations, luster, translucence and and very interesting gray to brown color zoning. The multiple chisel terminations on one side add real pizzazz. Complete all-around and in great shape, with only a scattered bit of termination bruising and one spot of side wear. Most larger barites from here are more tabular, so this blocky monster is an uncommon and excellent exception. From an East Coast collection. Mass is 1055 grams or 2.3 pounds.
