Item Description

A natural tectonic bend during crystal formation highlights this impressive and RARE large schorl tourmaline from a 1986 find at an obscure pegmatite on Little Cahuilla Mountain. The terminated jet-black trigonal crystal is highly lustrous and well-striated. Scattered tiny olive-green tourmalines are a nice accessory. Two clean repairs are certainly acceptable in the context of pegmatite species. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection and we believe he selfcollected these and did the repairs himself or with the help of his collecting friends. Bob is a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. A rare and fine large schorl from the locale.
