Item Description

Brochantite is a highly desirable Cu-sulfate accessory species from the famous mines at Bisbee. The large, very hefty, rich cuprite ore matrix hosts a dramatic, sculptural 9.0 cm vug, smaller vugs and surfaces coated and covered with forest-green brochantite prisms. The spherical crystal aggregates in the vugs add real pizzazz to this very fine and rich old-time combination from the renowned Copper Queen Mine. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 6407 and acquired from Willard Perkin in 1971 at Ventura. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). This impressive large old-timer combination probably dates to prior to World War I. Hefty copper ore mass is 1900 grams or 4.2 pounds. Classic Bisbee brochantite and cuprite. hard to value and you do NOT see these around the market, but certainly over $500
