Item Description

Impressive and sculptural large intergrown pair of calcite scalenohedrons from the Pugh Quarry, one of the most famous collecting sites in Ohio. The classic translucent rich golden-amber crystals have rough satin lustre faces. Both crystals are doubly terminated, at 11.5 and 11.3 cm long. Striking mulitple terminations are one end of the shorter prism, plus the bit of embedded matrix add style and character. Both ends of the large crystal have cleaved tips, with the smaller crystal having only gently bruised terminations. Specimens of this size and quality were collected from the 1950s to 70s, haven't been available for decades and only come from recycled collections. Ex Lee Burnett Collection of Morrison, Colorado. Here's your chance to get an excellent and rare large Pugh Quarry calcite.
