Item Description

Calcite specimens are known from the Austin area of Travis County, but specimens of this striking high quality and size are VERY RARE! Two stunning intergrown amber to colorless scalenohedrons are super glassy, transparent to translucent, and have fantastic satin luster, etched faces. The smaller crystal is pristine. The striking large crystal is complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only trivial bit of edge wear near the termination. This certainly has minimal impact to the overall extremely high quality of this piece. A superlative and rare large Texas calcite from the Blake Barnett Collection, well-known Austin field collector and dealer and the Allen Dillwith Collection.
