Item Description

An impressive and sculptural large intergrown cluster of calcite crystals aesthetically accented with contrasting purple fluorite from the famous Denton Mine. The striking stepped-growth, highly lustrous and glassy terminated crystals are gemmy to translucent and have rich golden color. The impressive large crystal is 9.2 cm and the stepped-growth crystals look like alligator's hide! The calcites are very nearly pristine, with only trivial rubbing on the tip of the large crystal and a small bruise on the side of a secondary crystal. This piece looks great, either vertically or horizontally. Classic and most excellent large Denton Mine calcite from the Tom Wolfe Calcite Collection from the 1980s and 90s finds. Valued at $1250-1500 for size, aesthetics and quality.
