Item Description
An exquisitely crystallized and aesthetic leaf-like gold specimen from the famous Round Mountain Mine. On closer look, though, it is fully crystallized. Both sides are composed of octahedrons and spinel-twins, along with nubby and smooth leaf surfaces. Facinating appearance makes these recognizably distinct from other finds.! The fabulous, 1.2 cm, hoppered, spearpoint octahedron at the tip is the crowning glory of this fine piece. One side also features a 4.5 cm (long!) spinel-twin. The nifty clusters of smaller, hoppered octos on one side are also very noteworthy. The color and luster is a mellow gold, indicating that this piece has some silver content, but probably not enough to be classified as electrum (over 20 weight percent silver). Very few new specimens have come from this noted locale in recent years and this is probably from the finds of 3-4 years ago. Fairly valued at $3000 or more for quality of crystallization and size. A MAJOR gold specimen for the mine, especially as it is large and flashy at amoderate price.
