Large Dolomite w/ Realgar & Calcite (Trimingham Coll.)

An impressive, large and colorful, museum-quality combination plate from the famous mines at Cavnic and the Bob Trimingham Collection. Sharp, densely intergrown, pearlescent dolomite rhombs to about 1.1 cm on edge are brightly coated with orangey-red realgar. Five calcite bowties to 3.2 cm scattered about have very nifty frayed ends and are a super accent. The bit of noted periphery wear is a very modest detraction to this most dramatic large plate. 6.2 pounds or 2.8 kilo mass.
