large DT Amazonite on Cleavelandite (Russia!) (ex Whitmore Coll.)

Item Description

An impressive and rare CABINET amazonite on cleavelandite from the Urals of Russia! The striking, sharp and pristine, moderately lustrous, 8.5 cm, doubly terminated, light turquoise-blue amazonite is jauntily set on the rounded mound of bladed cleavelandite. The amazonite is complete all-around and pristine. A paper label in German is attached to the amazonite. This is extremely uncommon material in this quality and size from the Urals. We believe it is old-time, possibly dating to Czarist times, but no proof. Value of such an imposing rarity??? Ex Robert Whitmore Collection.
