Item Description

An impressive LARGE CABINET cluster of intergrown amethyst/smoky quartz crystals from a limited Fall, 2009 find at this remote locale in Kenya. All of the crystals are doubly terminated. The terminations are quite glassy and the faces are razor-sharp, except for one face having a secondary overgrowth of sparkly drusy amethyst. The amethystine color ranges from pretty, intense purple to nearly colorless. Smoky areas are scattered throughout the piece. Skeletal features and the stepped-growth really add character to this dramatic piece. Complete all-around and essentially pristine. Several faces are contacted, where other crystals once lay, but there is very little bruising, per se. This 360-degree piece overall has striking visual impact with multiple display possibilities from both ends. These are impressive, pretty and large crystals from Africa! Not Bolivia, Brazil or Uruguay. 1266 grams or 2.8 pounds mass.
