Item Description

A very fine large combination plate from this famous old fluorite mine. Richly intergrown, lustrous, translucent, grayish-green fluorite cubes, to 2.3 cm, have very subtle color-zoning. The cubes are strikingly accented with preferential clusters of sharp, tan dolomite rhombs. A dusting of tiny bright brassy chalcopyrite crystals adds even more pizzazz to this excellent combination plate from the Kay Robertson Collection # 3115 and acquired in the early-mid 1960s. Purple fluorescence. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
