large Fluorite & Quartz w/ Pyrite (RARE color - Lemanski Coll.)

Item Description

RARE purple color fluorite crystals on this dramatic and impressive large fluorite and quartz combination with pyrite from this less well-known area near the famous mines at Dalnegorsk (some distace north, much smaller mining community, but nonetheless or perhaps more collectible for that!). The striking sharp bi-colored fluorite octahedrons have translucent violet edges and opaque deep purple cores. The large octos reach 4.0 cm on edge and are aesthetically nestled among translucent, gray, terminated, melted-look quartz crystals with satin lustre faces. Lustrous brassy pyrite crystal embedded on the fluorites and isolated sparkly pyrite microcrystal patches on the quartz crystals are striking accessories, complements and contrasts. Purple is a rare fluorite color from here, as most crystals are green. Mass is 2298 grams or 5.1 pounds. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired at the Tucson Show in 2001. We saw things from this mine in the late 1990s and then never again. A significant, large RARE purple color fluorite, quartz and pyrite combination from the locale.
