Item Description

A spectacular and rare large malachite specimen from this ancient and still active mine, where the Chinese Bronze Age started around 2500 years ago. The stunning tapered stalactites resemble artillery shells and are dramatically set on the sculptural plate amongst the very 3-dimensional bubbly botryoids. The smooth faces, unlike those from most African malachites, fine lustre and rich green color add much pizzazz to this exceptional malachite. The form of this very uncommon piece is superlative. Valued at $2000-plus. Quite different from Congo material, in person, and from one of the oldest copper mining locations on earth, still going after 3500 years!.
