large Mohawkite nugget (RARE)

Item Description

VERY RARE large Mohawkite nugget (often called a cobble) with accessories from Copper Country and the Type Locality, Mohawk Mine. Mohawkite is a rare mixture of algodonite, domeykite and arsenic-rich copper (and possibly further species) (MINDAT). The RARE species embedded in the cobble are Analcime and Malachite. This rounded cobble is a glacial erratic, transported and found about 6 miles southwest of the Mohawk Mine in 1997 on a hill above Tamarack according to the Bill and Anne Cook label. Hefty rich ore at 2929 grams or 6.5 pounds mass. Most mohawkite went to the smelter as rich ore. Highly unusual, perhaps unique, glacial float mohawkite from Copper Country.
