Large Quartz over Calcite (RARE style)

A VERY RARE and very attractive large calcite combination from Charcas, renowned for striking "pokerchip" habit calcites and world-class danburite, nifontovite and datolite crystals. Rhombic calcite is rare from here, and a large sharp blocky rhomb, such as this, is very rare. Adding dramatic pizzazz, the rhombs are covered with scintillating drusy gray drusy quartz. A light hematite tint to the quartz on the top of the piece adds even more color and character. The attachment on the back reveals lustrous, translucent bi-colored rust-brown to colorless interiors of the calcite rhombs. To our knowledge, this is a unique large calcite rhomb of this style further accented by a sparkling drusy quartz overgrowth. Valued at $4000.
