Large Quartz w/ Sphalerite (classic locale)

Item Description

Mineral specimens are RARE from this less well-known mine in the famous Concepcion del Oro area. Two generations of quartz crystals accented with isolated contrasting twinned sphalerite crystals are dramatically festooned on the sculptural large matrix plate. The larger satin lustre terminated crystals, to about 2.3 cm, are strikingly preferentially studded wtih smaller second-generation quartz points on the prism faces, adding much character. The bit of underlying matrix consists of sphalerite, pyrite and quartz. Very rare, essentially pristine older combination material from an East Coast collection.
