Item Description
Sharp, moderately lustrous, salmon-pink, rhodochrosite rhombs to 2.5 cm on the diagonal cover the top of this impressive and excellent large specimen from the Emma Mine at Butte. Secondary overgrowths of smaller rhodos and a peppering of tiny chalcopyrites is noted. The hefty matrix below the banded rhodochrosite is sulfides and quartz. One of the larger rhombs has a cleaved face and there are few broken quartz points. This remains a large, classic, old-time example from this famous locale and is a US classic.
