Item Description

Talc specimens are RARE from any of the old serpentine deposits from the well-known State Line Chromite Mining District mines in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Striking pearlescent clusters of beautiful waxy lustre pastel-green talc plates cover the large sculptural mostly talc matrix. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1985. Chet's label indicates the piece is from Geiger's Quarry in Maryland. However, the only Geiger Quarry listed by MINDAT is in Pennsylvania and this looks right - and pre MINDAT a number of East Coast locations were mixed up. Anyways, it is a big talc, and probably from this interesting deposit. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
