Item Description

An impressive, large and uncommon schorl specimen from Minas Gerais. Most schorls from here have pyramidal terminations, hence a mirror-bright pinacoidal termination is rare. The lustrous, well-striated crystal is dramatically accented by the scattered clusters of glassy cleavelandite blades and the significant indented area on the back of the crystal. Complete all-around and in excellent shape for such a large crystal. The trivial termination edge scuffing is certainly only a modest detraction and the bruised area on the back is out-of-sight in the fine primary display views. Rare and excellent large schorl from the Paul Zerfass Collection # 537. Mass is 1328 grams or 2.9 pounds.
