Item Description

A rare, unusually large vivivianite specimen from this less well-known open pit phosphate mine. Moderately lustrous, greenish-gray prisms, to 1.4 cm, are fashionably scattered jackstraw-style on the sculptural starkly contrasting chalky matrix. These were mined in the mid-1980s by the mine geologist and kept in his collection until we obtained the lot. A significant large Florida and US vivianite specimen. These are one of the very few Florida collector minerals and large pieces o fthis size are uncommon.
