Item Description

For a few decades, we've seen these unique gems from the Dominican Republic on the market. They are sold under the name Larimar, which is the trade name that has been given to natural (untreated) light blue, massive Pectolite found at the Filipinas Larimar Mine. The material is typically massive and opaque, but sometimes you will slightly translucent stones. The actual name "Larimar" is a combination of "Larissa", which was the name of the daughter of Dominican geologist, Miguel Mendez who originally named the material, and "Mar", which is the Spanish word for sea, as it resembles the crystal blue Caribbean Sea. This is an attractive Larimar gem with a "Bar Cabochon" cut and beautiful blue colors. These stones are only found in one place in the world, and they are becoming increasingly more popular among collectors, jewelers and dealers due to their durability and alluring color.
