Item Description

Good crystallized specimens of Lazulite are not common in the mineral world, but a handful of localities in the Yukon Territory has produced the finest examples of the species extant. This piece is a fantastic cabinet display specimen that is loaded with dozens of superb quality, razor-sharp, highly lustrous, rich inky blue colored crystals of Lazulite measuring up to 8 mm with associated Quartz and minor golden Siderite rhombs on matrix. There is such a dense coverage of crystals on the display side, and if you flip the piece over, you'll find even more Lazulites underneath. These specimens don't get the credit they deserve for their quality and scarcity on the market as it's very difficult to collect at Rapid Creek since it's not only covered by snow most of the year, but it's also some of the most treacherous terrain in the world for collecting. Overall the piece is in great shape, as the vast majority of the crystals are undamaged, and they glow with color when backlit, and ever show some rich green highlights in areas. The piece comes with a label from Russ Behnke which notes that it was formerly part of the collection of Harvard University.
