Legrandite (rare classic material)

Legrandite is a rare and highly sought after zinc arsenate species. It is certainly among the most desirable treasures in the mineral collecting world. The Legrandite specimens from the classic Mapimi mine stand as one of the greatest mineral occurrences extant. This thumbnail specimen hosts glowing yellow color, monoclinic of Legrandite on Limonite matrix. There is a central "vein" of Legrandite, which is contacted, but if you look closely, there are a few single crystals in fine condition, measuring up to 4 mm. The best of these single crystals is VERY gemmy, with excellent luster, sharpness and textbook form. We have photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. Good specimens of Legrandite are seldom seen on the market, and I don't have to tell you that fine specimens sell for huge money these days. Legrandite is really known from only a handful of localities in good quality specimens, but none of them are anywhere as significant as those from Mapimi, so don't miss out on this classic specimen from this world famous locality.
