Lepidolite (LARGE specimen)

When it comes to species of Mica, they are typically accessory species or an accent to a more prominent mineral, but occasionally, you'll get a piece like this which is not only the star of the show, but it's notably LARGE for what it is. This specimen is a large, impressive group of beautiful purple color, layered Lepidolite crystals, free of matrix. It's incredibly impressive not only for its size, but it's quality and the fact that it's a very displayable piece of Mica, which isn't terribly common in the mineral world. I love the pseudo-metallic appearance of the crystal on the top/display side, and when the piece is backlit, you can see a bit of gemminess/translucency on the edges. Additionally, the piece is in very good condition, with no major damage that I can find on the top or the sides. It should be noted that Lepidolite is no longer a valid species, as it's considered part of Polylithionite-Trilithionite series, but you'll still see these pieces labeled as Lepidolite. A really special and breathtaking Lepidolite that is unlike most you'll see from any world locality. Valued at $1,500-$2,000 retail.
