Item Description

Levyne is a rare zeolite group mineral and this striking specimen is from a very rare US locality for levyne. The scuptural matrix of dense, vesicular basalt is pockmarked all sides with vugs holding zeolite minerals. The central, 3.0 cm wide vug holds the treasure of numerous levyne blades on glassy chabazite crystals. Very rare and seldom-seen material from this locale. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
