Item Description
Libethenite is a well-known secondary copper phosphate species, found in many places around the world, but it's virtually impossible to get your hands on a piece from the famous Mex-Tex Mine in New Mexico. This thumbnail specimen features beautiful, gemmy olive-green colored "sprays" of Libethenite sitting on iron-stained Quartz crystals on matrix. The piece is best seen with magnification, and we've photographed it with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. If you collect rarities, or hard to find minerals from classic locales, do not miss out on this wonderful example from this important mine. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California. You can read Gary's obituary here https://www.dcourier.com/news/2019/apr/27/obituary-gary-richard-weaver/
