Item Description

Scintillating, gemmy, dark emerald-green libethenite microcrystals cover the small cabinet quartz matrix plate on this rich and showy specimen from this ancient copper mine. Libethenite specimens are very uncommon from here. Probably discovered by the Romans, but only worked in more modern times from 1861 to 1881 (MINDAT). A rich, rare and excellent example of the species and locale from the Chet Lemanski Collection. Acquired in 1996.
