Linarite with Caledonite (rare old classic) (ex Robert Ferguson Collection)

The secondary ore minerals from the Leadhills of Scotland are celebrated for not only their visual beauty, but the fact that they are some of the most well-known examples of their respective species from any European locality. This miniature specimen features attractive rich azurite blue crystals of the rare lead copper sulfate Linarite associated with saturated turquoise blue colored Caledonite with minor Quartz sitting on oxidized matrix. Upon close inspection, you can see that there are some really attractive little crystals of both the Linarite and Caledonite, and we have photographed them with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. The piece comes with a label from Trinity Mineral Company that states it is from the famous Robert Ferguson Collection who died in 1840, so this piece is almost certainly 200 years old!
