Item Description

An incredibly rare specimen of the iron aluminum arsenate Liskeardite from Cornwall, possibly from the type locality at the Marke Valley Mine. This species is reported from only FIVE places in the world, and four of them are mines in Cornwall. It features a beautiful vug of greenish-blue sparkling radiating aggregates of Liskeardite in host rock matrix. The color is really what matters here as most Liskeardite I've seen in white, and not this lovely green-blue color. If you're a rare species collector or a collector of English (especially Cornish) minerals, you cannot afford to miss out on this fantastic, historic and remarkably rare specimen of this classic material from this world-famous mining district! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9126) with a label stating that it belonged to C. U. Shepard. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
