Item Description

An aesthetic and RARE pseudomorph combination from the Kay Robertson Collection # 13248. Mineral specimens from this exctinct brucitic marble quarry, mined from 1942-68 for the production of magnesium metal (MINDAT) are very uncommon. This is a RARE pseudomorph of a flax-yellow Serpentine Group mineral (possibly lizardite) after four well-placed, euhedral blocky Olivine Group crystals (possibly forsterite). The pseudos are very nicely set on the contrasting blocky calcite cleavage matrix. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A RARE and choice thumbnail pseudomorph from the locale. Mineral specimens of any species are very uncommon from here.
