Item Description

Londonite is one of the most highly sought after rare minerals that has been found in Madagascar in recent years. It's the cesium-dominant analogue of Rhodizite, another rare mineral from Madagascar. A very small percentage of the crystals that have been found are actually gem quality, making Londonite a very desirable rare gem species. According to the entry on mindat.org, Londonite has been found in only three localities outside Madagascar, all of which are in Russia. To the best of my knowledge, only the material from Madagascar is suitable for faceting. This gemstone is a lovely light yellow color "Step Oval" cut gem with very slight inclusions. Gemstones of Londonite are exceedingly hard to find, especially with pleasing color like this, so this is a superb opportunity for somebody to pick up a very nice example for their collection.
