Ludlockite, Leiteite and Stottite

A trio of rare Tsumeb minerals on this piece and all three of them are type locality species from the unique finds of the Germanium level, the deepest explored areas in Tsumeb which produced so many amazing rare species! This is a colorful piece too, for display, with the matrix consisting of iridescent blue and gray Chalcocite ore enhanced with bright orange Ludlockite along with sparkling Leiteite, Stottite and Quartz. The rare species along with the tiny Quartz crystals are nestled in a 1.5 cm vug in the Chalcocite. Ludlockite is very obvious with its bright orange color and felted, acicular tufts to 3 or 4 mm. The other species are apparent but not as obvious without a loupe or microscope. Lamellar, almost micaceous of pale lavender-gray Leiteite are present in the vug along with lustrous little Quartz points and some tiny Stottite crystals as a bonus. Ludlockite is a lead-iron arsenate and Leiteite is a zinc arsenate and both are exceptionally rare! This piece looks great as is, and is even better under the microscope.
