Item Description

Some of the finest quality crystals of Magnesite in the world are those from the famous Pompa Pit in Brumado, Bahia, Brazil. They are often incredibly gemmy, with highly lustrous and razor-sharp faces. Typically the crystals don't measure much over 2 cm across, occasionally getting up into the 3 cm range. THIS crystal however is one of the largest single rhombs of the species that I've seen from the locality! The piece is a complete, very sharp, highly lustrous crystal with a slight smoky hue and decent translucency when backlit. It's important to note that the crystal is not completely undamaged, as it has some roughness around the edges, but I think it's more than forgivable considering the monstrous size. You just don't see crystals of this size and quality like this on the market, so if you collect worldwide carbonates, or Brazilian minerals, be sure to pick this one up for a great price. We had a $1,200 price tag on this one in the inventory.
