Item Description

Mesitite (Mg) and Mesitine Spar (Mg,Fe) are RARE varieties of ferroan magnesite. They are RARE from this classic old Italian area. This impressive, sculptural, rich and rare combination plate features extremely flattened brown magnesite rhombs to 2.3, scattered clusters of sharp, tan to colorless dolomite rhombs, to 1.4 cm on the diagonal, and one well-placed in the center, 2.0 cm, sharp, glassy quartz point. I believe this is Mesitine Spar. The interior is pristine. VERY RARE and outstanding combination material from this noted locale. Probably older material, but no proof. Ex Frank Hess Collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8405 and acquired from the Bradley's at the Windsor Show in December, 1977. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Try to find another.
