Magnetite

Magnetite is not often facetted into stones as the species is rather brittle, and larger crystals are not terribly common. There is a lot of faux Magnetite on the market which is really sintered iron oxide product from Asia, and is not naturally occuring Magnetite. This stone IS a genuine Magnetite gem from Arkansas. I have only seen a few faceted Magnetites over the years, and this opaque "Pear" cut gem has a bright metallic silvery luster, though the pavillion does have some slight pitting. Enjoy.
