Item Description

Three generations of malachite and powder-blue chrysocolla cover this visually attractive and sculptural specimen from the famous Mashamba West Mine. Pastel-green, malachite botryoids cover most of the chrysocolla. Scintillating, forest-green botryoids in amazing patterns follow. Finally, small, sharp clusters of malachite partially pseudomorphing purple azurite blades are sprinkled on both earlier generations of malachite. A deep cleft on the back is a fine bonus and is partially lined with lustrous, primary malachite crystals. The piece displays superbly without aid in two orientations. Older material from the 1980s. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock and valued by him at $400, at least five and probably more years ago. A VERY interesting specimen!
