Item Description

An attractive old time specimen of Malachite from a lesser known locality in Zambia. Originally this piece was labeled as coming from "Bwana M'Kubwa, Rhodesia", but Rhodesia is now Zimbabwe, but at the time, I'm sure accurate locality information wasn't always available. The piece comes from an old East Coast collection with an historic label from the legendary mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address it dates to 1946-1957. This piece features good quality, banded, radial groups of various hues of green Malachite which have been polished to better show their form. Very hard to find on the market these days, and certainly a must have for any secondary mineral collector, a Malachite collector or a collector of interesting minerals from Africa.
