Item Description

An attractive old time specimen of Malachite from a lesser known locality in Zambia. Originally this piece was labeled as coming from "Bwana MKubwa, Rhodesia", and Rhodesia is now Zimbabwe, but at the time, I'm sure accurate locality information wasn't always available. Nonetheles, piece is actually from Zambia. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The specimen is accompanied by one of Wulff's famous 3x5 index cards and a display label. This piece features good quality, banded, lines of various hues of green Malachite which have been polished to better show their form and color. Very hard to find on the market these days, and certainly a must have for any secondary mineral collector, a Malachite collector or a collector of interesting minerals from Africa.
